I just realized that in all the time I spent making these, I haven’t made a post dedicated to the zines I have been working on about the eight sabbats – solar festivals, solstices, equinoxes, cross-quarter days, equinoxes/seasonal festivals in the witch’s Wheel of the Year.

Ever since I started practicing witchcraft when I was a young teenage baby witch, I’ve always tried to make a point to celebrate these holidays (even in just some small way). In these zines, I have put together some interesting things about each sabbat and equinox. I have included some historical information, deities worshiped in these or other earth based religious practices, a tarot spread, a playlist (sorry it’s on Spotify, but feel free to use it as a list to check out the artists and tracks via another source), and a simple ritual that I have tried to make as accessible as possible in terms of materials needed and what your space allows. I understand that “simple” doesn’t necessarily mean the same thing to me as it might mean to you, so just use this as a bare bones suggestion if you’re looking for a ritual to fit your needs.

In this grimoire zine, we take a look at the Spring Equinox, also known as Ostara. Taking place around March 20th or 21st in the northern hemisphere, this equinox marks the beginning of spring. At this equinox, day and night are in balance, the awakening of nature, the return of light after winter, as well as symbolizes new beginnings and planting seeds of what we wish to cultivate as the Wheel of the Year turns.

I am by all means not the end-all-be-all source of witchcraft (and don’t trust anyone who says they are for that matter), these zines are my collected go-to sources I can reach to in a pinch, and I’m happy to share them with you! As always, takes what works for you and leave the rest!
