New Noon In Taurus

New moons are about new beginnings. New moons are for welcoming new possibilities and setting intentions for future endeavors. Now is the time for welcoming new beginnings, as well as setting intentions for future pursuits. The new moon is the ideal time for reconnecting with our emotions, refreshing our goals, starting new projects and rekindling whatever emotional or creative projects we may have been neglecting. If we are garden witches (or making a more or less valiant effort to be), now is time for planting seeds and tending to burgeoning gardens. This is also time for tending to our emotional gardens.

The Moon is exalted in Taurus, which according to traditional dignity schemes means that the moon is held up in this sign. It’s like it has the throne. This means that the moon is super-powered to do its “job” in Taurus. All of this translates to big feelings of...well...feelings, nourishment, care-giving and nurturing. Because Taurus is an earth sign (though I just recently heard it called “the Sagittarius of the earth signs” by a really hilarious content creator named Chester Gregory...look him up), this new moon has a sensuous, tactile energy to it. In astrology, Taurus rules the second house of material embodiment and a sense of home. Our most tangible home is the meat suit we in habit. This brings us towards tuning into our bodies and physicalities.

The Taurus New Moon supports us in taking the steps we need to return to the self. Taking time for stillness and tuning in to our inner voice tunes us in to our innate wisdom that is there, but just needs to be listened to. If we listen to that wisdom, we are better able to care for ourselves and give ourselves what we need. This all creates inner synergy that begins to flow outward too. In order to create this sense of harmony, it starts with checking in on our inner state of being.

The New Moon in Taurus focuses on what can be made tangible. It’s about doing the work it takes to take something from thought to fruition and onto full, realized creation. The New Moon in Taurus isn’t just about hard work though. Our bullish new moon also is about enjoying all the pleasures life has to offer. The beginning of the lunar cycle of the bull lays out the red carpet for friendships to bloom, creative pursuits to flourish, love to blossom and material issues.

The New Moon in Taurus of 2025 happens April 27th. It is the first new moon that isn’t in eclipse, bringing us to the end of the first eclipse season of the year (the next starts in September), which began on March 14th, the second on the 29th. Eclipse season is characterized by unpredictable, fast change that unveil the truth and kick off new, shadowy storylines. So, that all tracks!

The Moon and Sun in Taurus square up to Pluto in Aquarius and Mars in Leo, creating an activated alignment which will add an extra layer of complexity and intensity to this lunation.

This new moon is about exploring and building up our sense of self-worth. All of this corresponds to Venus, the ruling planet of Taurus, which supports new moon workings focused on self-love. As Anne Lammott says in Bird By Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life:

Perfectionism is the voice of the oppressor, the enemy of the people.”

While working on our self-worth, it’s important to remember to not hold ourselves to impossibly high standards based on accomplishments and productivity. These are captialist systems of measurement, but this lunation is here for us to build new foundations built on self-worth.

Whenever the will for transformation is there, there is always a resistance at some level. Though change is necessary for growth and evolution. It’s important to feel ourselves grow even if our knee-jerk reaction is to fight against it. It’s about embracing the process. And here’s to embracing the process during this moon cycle and all those to come.

New Moon Affirmation:

At this new moon I welcome in new beginnings. I open myself to making a fresh start this moon cycle. I embrace new opportunities that allow me to shape my dreams into being.”
