The Sun moves into Aquarius on January 20th, resting there until February 18th. Forward-thinking, self-sufficient Aquarius is often mistakenly thought to be a water sign due to it’s symbol, The Water-Bearer. The Water-Bearer’s action is what is focused on rather than the water itself. In this sense, the water symbolizes our psyche as well as the collective whole. The movement of taking the water to the earth, then the water trickling back to the pond is the focus, thus, Aquarius is an air sign. Ruled by Uranus – planet of imagination, innovation and ingeniousness, this is the season for embracing our weirdo selves as well as harnessing our unique visions.

This Aquarius season is about the connections we have with our intimate loved ones. Now is the time to bask in being our authentic selves, which goes hand-in-hand with spending quality time with our nearest and dearest who understand us. This is about gassing up our people, and basking in the unique gifts everyone brings to the table.

Aquarius season invites us to allow ourselves the rest we deserve with zero sense of shame. Now is when we need to reset and charge our batteries. We can also think of ways to channel the humanitarian inspirations the season offers by donating time and available resources towards our community.

Aloof Aquarius can sometimes over-analyze their feelings, and it’s important to connect with a trusted source with whom it is safe to open up. Aquarians can at times isolate themselves from tough situations and be too proud to share the icky bits of life with those they trust. It’s important to avoid reasoning our emotional needs away.

Ideal ways to make the most of this Aquarian time of year can be planning a get together with good friends – be it anything from a game night to an intimate dinner – to revel in camaraderie, kick back with our inner rebels, dive into whatever quirky interests we have, and take every opportunity to appreciate our individuality.
